Wonderful Evangelistic designed wedding

Wonderful Evangelistic designed wedding.

We praise God for making the event successful. We appreciate so much the contribution of individuals and committee for this wedding. Others who were not in the position to contribute did their part in prayers and moral support. May God reward all of you abundantly for your concern.

It was on 31st March 2005.Before the event were several powerful happenings. March 19, there was a very big musical concert involving 5 choirs several groups convened by Morogoro Central church (at Misufini). March 20 was dedication of Morogoro Central Church and the bridegroom was first church elder for this year. Again from 21st - 22nd March there were other, the dedication of East Tanzania Field as Conference by president of Seventh-day Adventist church in Eastern-Central Africa division, pastor Geoffrey Mbwana. In front cover Parapanda Magazine of East Tanzania Conference issued at the celebrations several angels were pictured surrounding one Maasai youngman (AWR producer in Maasai attire). The lord’s promise to Spiritual Israel is again fulfilled that “my house shall be called house of prayer for all nations” including Maasai people (Isaiah56: 7,8). God encouraged the exiles that when the temple is dedicated he will shake the whole world and bring all nations into his glorious house, the church (Hagai 2:4-9, Micah 4:1-3 etc). So when Morogoro Central church was dedicated March 20 God stirred the hearts of Maasai people to come in March 31st. The wedding event took place at Morogoro Central church in Tanzania. Approximately 300 Maasai people attended without counting church members who acted as hosts. Pastor Alfayo Laizer (who is a Maasai) and Samuel Katengu performed the service while Loitopuaki Lebabu the former AWR Maasai language producer translated into Maasai dialect and later entertained the special invited guests as Master of ceremony at Silver Hall located within Christian Council of Churches in Tanzania (in Morogoro).

Satan was not idle. He knew the effect of the event. In the first hand he did not like the union of two young people who withstood fierce persecutions each from parents when their faith was tender. He did everything possible to prevent or distort the wedding event. He killed 2 members of Kodihalawe Maasai Adventist Choir who were coming to sing as special invited choir making them with their pastor Ole Njake fail to attend. But God brought another choir by coincidence women singers from Malawi warmed the celebrations. The bridal party was delayed because of another accident that injured close friends of the bride and bridegroom. Several Maasai who did not attend explained that they planned to attend the next day but become sick that night and failed to attend. Some attended only to be delayed all day by call from police. Some others failed to find the place that they moved all day with rented taxis and finally decided to go home with their gifts without success.

The after reaction for those who were successful was profound. Most of attendants were relatives, friends and former associates of the bride or bridegroom. Many others understood from invitation cards and wanted to come and chance to see the man whom they used to listen in a radio i.e. Adventist world radio Maasai language programs. Some said the event would never be erased in their memory. Still many other went home and dreaming again of the event. Many others confessed that they wanted to marry that way as Adventists do. One young man who is about to marry asked his father who belonged to a strict Pentecostals for permission to have his wedding officiated by Adventists. But his father reacted angrily “forget about it!” For many traditional Maasai I mean non-Christians the event brought positive view that Christians are good/generous people with no segregation, well organized and have good plans. What attracted them most was that the marching parties were Maasai children and were putting on their traditional attire. So many went with the idea that Adventist belong to us. The event was the foreshadowing of Christ coming the second time to take his Church. Continue to pray for Maasai people and for the couple as they plan to work for them. May God bless you.
